A9.com Home Page
Yup! A9 (no idea why the name) is a new search engine from Amazon.com. Recently out of beta testing and ready for prime time, this search engine combines the best of the web, so to speak.
Check it out by clicking on the above link, and you will find a pretty simple interface. Input your query, and the Google search results will show up on the left side of the screen. On the right, will be options to search for Books (from Amazon's database), Movies (from IMDb - Internet Movie Database) Images (also courtesy of Google) and Reference materials like encyclopedia entries (powered by GuruNet). Its like one stop shopping for information.
Now if you have an Amazon account, you can also sign in and make use of the History, Bookmark and Diary features of this search site. These personalized features track your past queries, and allow you to save notations about favourite web sites for future reference. These may be useful for some, and signing up for an Amazon account is free, but I'm sure you won't feel you are missing anything if you just use A9 as a straight up search engine.
Check it out; I'm sure you will find it as good as, if not better than, a straight Google search.
Enjoy, Lianne
