Hey folks! I learned about this just yesterday and thought I would pass it on.
IZArc is software that you use to compress large files into something that takes up less space on your hard drive. This is great for all those picture files that are starting to take up a lot of space on your computer, or any other file type that is important enough to keep, but is rarely or no longer used. The process is pretty simple, you pick one or more files to compress, and when you are done, you are left with one file that is much smaller than the ones you started with.
You may be familiar with .zip files created by programs like WinZip. IZArc is similar to this, but it utilizes several other compression formats as well. IZArc also includes features that allow you to password protect your compressed files so you are assured of total privacy if you need to email the compressed file to someone else) as well as the ability to search within the archived file so you don't have to open it up again to see what's inside. Most importantly, it's free!
